Gas Line Installation and Repair in Nacogdoches County TX
Licensed Gas Work Done Right, the First Time
Gas line work is not a job for handymen, weekend renovators, or general-purpose contractors. A small mistake on a gas line creates a leak. A bigger mistake creates fire, explosion, or carbon monoxide exposure. Texas plumbing code requires gas piping work to be performed by licensed plumbers, and Peace of Mind Plumbing is owner-operated by a Texas Master Plumber (RMP 41912) with 35+ years in the trade. We handle natural gas and propane line install, repair, and pressure testing across six East Texas counties.

Gas Work Belongs With a Licensed Master Plumber
Per the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners, gas piping installation, repair, and connection to gas-fired appliances must be performed by a licensed plumber under Texas plumbing code, and gas-related work is one of the credential-tested areas of the Texas Master Plumber license itself.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 400 people in the United States die each year from accidental, non-fire carbon monoxide poisoning, much of it traced back to leaking or improperly installed gas appliances and gas piping.

When to Call About a Gas Line
- You smell gas in or around the house
A rotten-egg smell (the additive utilities mix into natural gas to make it detectable) is the clearest warning sign of a gas leak. Leave the house immediately. Do not turn light switches on or off. Do not start or stop appliances. Do not use a phone inside the house. Once outside, call 911 first, then call your gas utility, then call us. We can locate and repair the leak once the immediate hazard is cleared.
- A gas appliance isn't working right
A gas water heater that won’t stay lit, a stove burner with weak or yellow flames, a furnace cycling more than usual, or a dryer that takes longer than it used to. These can point to a partial gas line blockage, low gas pressure, a damaged regulator, or a problem at the connection between the line and the appliance. We diagnose the gas-side cause and repair the line or connection.
- You're adding a gas appliance or amenity
Adding a gas range, gas dryer, gas water heater (tank or tankless), gas fireplace, gas pool heater, outdoor gas grill, or gas-fed generator? Each one needs a properly sized supply line run from the meter or main, a shutoff valve at the appliance, and a pressure test before the line goes live. We size the new line for the appliance’s BTU demand and pull the permit where required.
- Your home still has older steel or copper gas lines
Older homes in Nacogdoches, Lufkin, Center, San Augustine, and Henderson sometimes still have black-iron or older copper gas piping that has aged past its safe service life. Corroded threads, fittings, and joints become leak risks even before the line itself fails. A pressure test confirms whether the existing system is still sound, and replacement is straightforward when the old material has reached its limit.
- You're buying or selling a home with gas appliances
A pre-sale gas line inspection and pressure test gives buyer and seller a clear, written confirmation that the gas system is sound. Worth it on any home with gas appliances, especially older homes where the gas piping has been in place for decades. We provide written documentation of the test results.
What We Do for Gas Lines
New Gas Line Installation
New supply line runs for any gas appliance: range, oven, dryer, water heater, tankless water heater, fireplace, pool heater, generator, or outdoor grill. We size the line based on the appliance’s BTU demand and the distance from the meter, install with code-compliant materials and fittings (typically black iron, CSST, or copper depending on the application), set the shutoff valve at the appliance, and pressure-test the full system before the gas is turned on.
Gas Line Repair
Repair of leaks at fittings, valves, threaded joints, or damaged sections of pipe. Once a leak is located (gas leak detection equipment plus visual inspection plus pressure testing), we repair the affected section, replace any compromised fittings or valves, and pressure-test the line again before putting it back in service. Most repairs are completed in a single visit
Gas Line Pressure Testing and Leak Detection
A standalone pressure test isolates the gas piping from the appliances and verifies the line holds pressure within code-required limits. We use this on pre-sale home inspections, new installations before commissioning, and any time a leak is suspected but not yet located. Combined with leak detection equipment, we can pinpoint the failure point on a long run without tearing into multiple sections of wall or floor.
Underground and Propane Line Installation
Buried gas lines from the meter to the house, propane line runs from a tank to the home or to outdoor appliances, and yard-side connections to detached structures (workshops, outdoor kitchens, pool equipment). We trench, run code-compliant underground gas piping, install proper protection where required, and pressure-test the full underground line before backfill.
Why a Licensed Master Plumber Matters for Gas
- Code Compliance and Permits
Gas line work in Texas requires permits and inspection in most jurisdictions. We pull the permit, schedule the inspection, and pass on the first try. Skip the permit and the city or county won’t sign off, the work has to be reopened, and the homeowner pays twice. We don’t take that shortcut on gas, and you shouldn’t accept it from any contractor.
- Pressure Test on Every Job
Every gas line we install or repair gets a pressure test before the gas is turned on. The test verifies the line holds pressure within code limits and confirms there are no leaks at any fitting or joint. No exceptions, no shortcuts, no “looks fine” on a gas line. The pressure test is what separates a finished job from a hazard waiting to happen.
- Properly Sized for the Appliance Load
Gas line sizing is calculated based on the BTU demand of the appliance and the distance from the meter or supply. Undersize the line and the appliance won’t get enough gas to run correctly. Oversize and you’ve spent more on materials than necessary. We size every line to the load it has to serve.
- Master Plumber on Every Gas Job
Same Texas Master Plumber on every gas install, repair, and pressure test. Licensed, bonded, insured, and 35+ years of experience working gas systems across East Texas. The work doesn’t get handed to a junior tech or a subcontractor.
What a Gas Line Project Looks Like
A typical gas line install or repair follows these steps: scope walk and BTU load calculation for new installs, permit pull where required, material selection (black iron, CSST, copper, or polyethylene depending on the application), running the line with code-compliant supports and protection, installing the shutoff valve at the appliance, pressure-testing the full system, scheduled inspection by the local authority, and gas turn-on with a final leak check at every fitting using approved methods.
All work performed to current Texas plumbing code by a licensed Master Plumber. The 1-year labor warranty covers install work on top of any manufacturer warranties on materials and fittings.
Related Plumbing Services
Most tankless water heater installs require a gas line upgrade because the existing supply isn’t sized for the higher BTU demand. We handle the gas line and the tankless install under one scope, no second contractor.
A burst pipe or emergency plumbing call during business hours, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. For gas leaks specifically, leave the house and call 911 first.
Commercial plumbing for restaurants, retail, and commercial properties needing commercial gas service for kitchen equipment, water heaters, or building heating systems. Same Master Plumber on every commercial gas job.

I called them Friday and they said they’d be out first thing Monday morning and they were here by 8:30. They did high quality repair work on pipes and replaced two sink facets. It looks so much better than before and works like there was never an issue. The best part of this review is they were REASONABLE on charges. Highly recommend!

Gas Line Questions
Straight answers. No filler.
What should I do if I smell gas in my house?
Leave the house immediately. Don’t turn light switches or appliances on or off. Don’t use a phone inside the house. Once outside, call 911, then your gas utility, then us. The local gas utility will turn off the supply at the meter so the leak stops. We then locate, repair, and pressure-test the line before it’s put back in service.
How much does gas line installation cost in East Texas?
Cost depends on the appliance, the line length, the routing (interior vs underground), the materials required, and whether a permit and inspection are involved. We provide a written quote after the scope walk so you know what’s included before any work begins.
Do you install gas lines for grills, pool heaters, and fireplaces?
Yes. Outdoor gas grills, pool heaters, fireplaces (interior and exterior), generators, and outdoor kitchens are all in scope. We size each line for the appliance’s BTU demand, route to code, and pressure-test before commissioning.
Are you licensed for gas line work in Texas?
Yes. Texas requires gas line installation, repair, and connection to be performed by a licensed plumber. Nicholas holds a Texas Master Plumber license, RMP 41912, with 35+ years of gas system experience. Licensed, bonded, and insured for all gas-related work in our service area.
Do you handle propane lines, or only natural gas?
Both. Natural gas line install and repair where municipal or utility gas service is available, and propane line install, repair, and tank-side connections for properties on propane. Common throughout rural East Texas where municipal gas isn’t available.
