Per the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners, gas piping installation, repair, and connection to gas-fired appliances must be performed by a licensed plumber under Texas plumbing code, and gas-related work is one of the credential-tested areas of the Texas Master Plumber license itself.

When to Call About a Gas Line
- You smell gas in or around the house
A rotten-egg smell (the additive utilities mix into natural gas to make it detectable) is the clearest warning sign of a gas leak. Leave the house immediately. Do not turn light switches on or off. Do not start or stop appliances. Do not use a phone inside the house. Once outside, call 911 first, then call your gas utility, then call us. We can locate and repair the leak once the immediate hazard is cleared.
- A gas appliance isn't working right
A gas water heater that won’t stay lit, a stove burner with weak or yellow flames, a furnace cycling more than usual, or a dryer that takes longer than it used to. These can point to a partial gas line blockage, low gas pressure, a damaged regulator, or a problem at the connection between the line and the appliance. We diagnose the gas-side cause and repair the line or connection.

What We Do for Gas Lines
New Gas Line Installation
New supply line runs for any gas appliance: range, oven, dryer, water heater, tankless water heater, fireplace, pool heater, generator, or outdoor grill. We size the line based on the appliance’s BTU demand and the distance from the meter, install with code-compliant materials and fittings (typically black iron, CSST, or copper depending on the application), set the shutoff valve at the appliance, and pressure-test the full system before the gas is turned on.
Gas Line Repair
Repair of leaks at fittings, valves, threaded joints, or damaged sections of pipe. Once a leak is located (gas leak detection equipment plus visual inspection plus pressure testing), we repair the affected section, replace any compromised fittings or valves, and pressure-test the line again before putting it back in service. Most repairs are completed in a single visit
Gas Line Pressure Testing and Leak Detection
A standalone pressure test isolates the gas piping from the appliances and verifies the line holds pressure within code-required limits. We use this on pre-sale home inspections, new installations before commissioning, and any time a leak is suspected but not yet located. Combined with leak detection equipment, we can pinpoint the failure point on a long run without tearing into multiple sections of wall or floor.
Underground and Propane Line Installation
Buried gas lines from the meter to the house, propane line runs from a tank to the home or to outdoor appliances, and yard-side connections to detached structures (workshops, outdoor kitchens, pool equipment). We trench, run code-compliant underground gas piping, install proper protection where required, and pressure-test the full underground line before backfill.

- Code Compliance and Permits
Gas line work in Texas requires permits and inspection in most jurisdictions. We pull the permit, schedule the inspection, and pass on the first try. Skip the permit and the city or county won’t sign off, the work has to be reopened, and the homeowner pays twice. We don’t take that shortcut on gas, and you shouldn’t accept it from any contractor.
